These medals were stolen during a house burglary from a Trig Road North residence in WAIHI between 6pm Sunday, 2 February and 2pm Monday, 3 February 2025.
- The seven medals are of “extreme historical and sentimental value” to the victims and their family.
The medals and two ribbon bars are the World War 2 medals of a United States serviceman and husband stolen while the man’s wife was hospitalised. The medals are un-named.
Other items also stolen in the burglary included two chainsaws, a hedge cutter, wedding rings, and jewellery.

The burglary has been reported to the Waihi Police who are also appealing for any CCTV or dashcam footage in that area that may assist their investigation to locate the service medals and hold the offenders to account.’
